Bharti Airtel’s DTH unit, Airtel Digital TV, has launched an Android-based set-top box (STB) today. Through this, consumers will see content available on the Internet on their television sets and on regular satellite channels.

Presenting this product, Chief Executive Officer and Director of Bharti Airtel DTH, Sunil Haldar said, “Consumers have to spend an additional Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 on the higher than the normal TV, which is a major obstacle. Apart from this, the media is streaming device but in case of technology confluence, their experience is not irritant. Airtel Internet TV will present solutions to this bottleneck in online and offline content.

It will cost Rs 4,999 for new customers. STB will already load support castings for content from Movie App Netflix, YouTube. Users will be able to download applications from the Google Play Store and play games on TV. New consumers will also have the option of buying equipment at Rs 7,999.

In this, Airtel DTH will be able to view 500 channels for one year. The existing customers can also get it at Rs 3,999. It will get Airtel DTH channels for one month. STBs will be available exclusively on Amazon. Initially it will be available to the consumers of the top 20 cities of the country.
